Cox Technique Flexion Distraction Services

Cox® Flexion Distraction

Formally known as “The Cox® Technique System of Spinal Pain Management,” this spinal manipulation modality is widely practiced by chiropractors. Its developer, James M. Cox, is continually supporting critical examination and research to substantiate its effectiveness for the relief of pain, as related to the correction of spinal dysfunction.

The Role of Flexion and Distraction

The Cox® Technic utilizes a special chiropractic table in order to apply a light decompression (traction) and flexion (both up-and -down and side-to-side) to the spine in order to focus and model smooth movement through misalignments.

NATURAL motion of spine is used to restore injured sites to normalization in bony movement and tissue integrity. This encourages…

  • Increase of intervertebral disc height, removing tension in the ligaments and tendons as well as the related nerve root, which might also improve local blood circulation
  • Increase of space where the spinal nerves exit
  • Decrease in pressure on a spinal disc and vertebral joint

This is a very gentle and non-invasive technique that is GREAT for patients with:

  • Disc Degeneration
  • Disc Herniations or Protrusions
  • Sciatic Symptoms
  • Spinal Surgeries (depending on the motion left, scar tissue, stability, and exam findings)
  • Compression Injuries
  • and All Other Chiropractic Cases

This is a technique that our chiropractors use frequently with many clients, due to the gentleness of effort both to the patient and practitioner. The results are generally cumulative.
