Chiropractors are not just spine doctors!

by | Spine Health

Although my degree is in Chiropractic, I have spent much time and energy learning about emotions and how emotions impact the body, and how nutrition and whole food nutritional supplements heal, along with homeopathic remedies and herbal remedies (natures drugs, did you know all pharmaceuticals are based on something from nature?)

So I like to think I am not your typical Chiropractor, herbalist, homeopathic doctor or psychologist. (And yes, I do all of it within my scope of practice!)

I am a whole body, whole health Chiropractor! I believe that the power that made the body heals the body. I learned about these other healing arts because they helped me and I wanted to help my patient on a bigger scale. Here is Addison’s story.

Addison was less than a year old when I meet her and was diagnosed with TAR Syndrome.

Thrombocytopenia-absent radius (TAR) syndrome is a rare condition that is apparent at <a href=”http://www.healthline.com/galecontent/birth”>birth</a>. Affected infants are born with incomplete or missing forearms. Typically, the bone on the thumb side of the forearm (radius) is absent, but other bones may be missing or abnormally formed. TAR syndrome also causes life-threatening bleeding episodes due to low levels of platelets in the blood (<a href=”http://www.healthline.com/adamcontent/thrombocytopenia”>thrombocytopenia</a>). It is inherited in an autosomal recessive manner.

Addison came to visit us on 1-3-13 at that time she was 8 months old, Mom wanted Addison to gain weight faster,(one of the issues with TARS is low weight and slow to gain it). Addison had been taking Axid for acid reflux, Reglan to help move food out of that stomach faster. And supplements of folic acid, poly vi sol with iron and infant elecare formula.

Addison was slow in development, throwing up a lot, spitting up, had acid reflux and decreased platelets.

In my exam, I used muscle testing procedure to determine that Addison was allergic to her formula, so I recommended a homeopathic remedy from NET Remedies called Allergy. Homeopathics are safe natural remedies so there was NO issue in giving this to a baby.

I also determined that Addison need help with her stomach so again recommended another homeopathic from NET remedies Earth, and a Standard Process whole food supplement Multizyme. Multizyme digests proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. The ingredients are, Fig (fruit), defatted almonds, pancreatin (3x), fatty acids, bromelain, lipase, cellulase, papain, and amylase.  So it was totally safe for the baby.

Lastly, I adjusted her stomach.

On 1-11-13 Addison returned and her mother indicated that Addison LOVES the multi-zyme but she is getting more gas! I adjusted Addison’s C1 for the allergies and T5 for the stomach,(the nerves from T5 go to stomach, simple neurology) using an adjustable instrument called an Activator.

The family followed up on 1-25-13 “Addison loves the multi-zyme and needs more, she threw up on Monday but did great for about 1 1/2 weeks- hasn’t been interested in the rice cereal”, in her mom’s words. I added another NET remedy Visceral Polarity to help “hold the stomach in place”.

2-8-13: Mom reports that Addison “still has a bad day once a week but can tell her digestive system is working better- goes #2, 2-3 times per day. Has a cold, lots of mucus right now throwing up more because of it”. So I adjusted Addison again and recommended Standard Process Congaplex. Congaplex is for immune system support and congestion, it is 1/3 calcium lactate from beets, 1/3 food based vitamins A and C, 1/3 thymus gland fluid (part of the immune system) and Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) for cell reproduction.

3-8-13: Mom says” Addison is doing well-consuming more ounces per day still hit and miss on the rice cereal, still introducing baby foods, she is not into the multi-zyme like she uses to be, as of last week she weighs 11 pounds :)” Again, I adjust C1 and T5 using the Activator. Young kids and babies KNOW what they need and will take it with no issue of taste. We teach them to be picky. However, I encourage the parents to observe the child and when the child does NOT want the supplement or homeopathic don’t force it. The kids KNOW.

4-13-13: Mom said, “last week I thought she had a little cold had phlegm in her chest so would throw up 1 time per day a little fussier than usual.” I adjusted her C1 and her stomach, switched supplements to  Standard Process Zymex which is a system detoxified and natural antibiotic effect.

The beginning of June Addison had surgery to correct the forearm (no radius bones) she was strong enough for the surgery and she did very well with it and her recovery is going very well. Addison did have a constipation issue so I adjusted her Iliocecal Valve (the valve from the small intestine [ilium] to the large intestine [Cecum]) this cleared up constipation.

Addison’s story is just beginning, I trust I will get to treat her children someday!

The purpose of the story is 2 fold!

  1. It’s not about me or what I did, because the POWER THAT MADE THE BODY HEALS THE BODY, but it is about working with the laws of God to feed the body food for healing and to correction mechanical issues with adjustments. And that Chiropractic and Chiropractors are more than just Spine Doctors, it’s about treating the body as a whole and not just individual systems.
  2. Giving the right tool at the right time, you can enhance lives. It does not have to be a choice between “traditional medicine” and “natural medicine” the two can work together many times to help the patient.

The wonderful thing about this approach is, you can almost NEVER harm the person, it is incredibly safe for people of all ages from cradle to the grave!
